Hi friends,
Here’s a thought I had last night. Why don’t we start a book club which helps us imagine, think-through and wrestle with the world that is on her way? Once a month we’ll pick a book, read it and then have a zoom call where we discuss it together. Sometimes I might even convince the author to come and chat with us. It could be called the BRAVE NEW WORLDS BOOK CLUB.
Interested? Great! Here are the details.
WHAT: The first book will be the journalist Rebecca Solnit’s new collection of essays:
NO STRAIGHT ROAD TAKES YOU THERE: Essays for Uneven Terrain
In her latest essay collection, the award-winning writer explores responses to the climate crisis, as well as reflections on women's rights, the fight for democracy, the trends in masculinity, and the rise of the far right in the West. Incantatory and poetic, positive and engaging, these essays argue for the long-term view and the power of collective action, making a case for seeding change wherever possible, and offering us all a path out of the wilderness.

WHEN: We will meet to discuss it on 7.30pm (GMT) THURSDAY JUNE 26th, which gives you a month to read the book.
WHERE: On Zoom! Using this link.
WHO: You! And me, I’m Grace Pengelly a freelance writer and editor living in the UK. Perhaps forward this email to a friend if you think they’d be interested in joining us.
COST: Free, but if you’d like to support my work through a paid (£4 monthly/£3 annual) subscription, please go ahead here.
I think that’s everything. I’m excited about this! If you are interested in coming, let me know by leaving a comment or liking this post.
